Maybe we need more labor, not less? If we spend all day behind a mule plowing the field, we won't burn as much electricity at night making and uploading Tik-Tok videos.

Going further, I don't see how we get any kind of a sustainable future without drastically reducing the human population, which would obviously be extremely problematic.

I've once again started talking without doing a lot of background reading, and I don't know the numbers, but are vertical farms and recycled clothing enough to compensate for 12 billion humans? 16 billion?

I'm going to keep reading, maybe the answers are out there, but you, know, it's the internet and I couldn't help running my mouth.
